NORTHRIDGE, CA - September 22, 2015 – UNICOM Global founder, president and CEO, Mr. Corry Hong, was recently selected as the guest speaker at California State University, Northridge (“CSUN”), for their “Professor for a Day” program. Mr. Hong spoke to students in the University’s David Nazarian College of Business and Economics program, reflecting on his unique story of success in building UNICOM Global over the last 34 years.
“It was a privilege and an honor to serve as Professor for a Day at CSUN, one the nation’s top universities,” said Mr. Hong. “As an immigrant to the United States from Korea, I have experienced the American Dream by starting California-based UNICOM in 1981, at a very young age and straight out of college, and building the Company into a global business enterprise. It is thrilling to work with young students who are eager to start their own dream, and share the stories of hard work and entrepreneurship which helped build UNICOM.”
CSUN is also a part of the UNICOM Global Technology Intern Partnership (“TIP”), which provides internship opportunities to current students and alumni of member institutions. This consists of credited/uncredited internships projects within UNICOM Global’s thirty-seven (37) corporate entities around the world providing Enterprise Software, Computing Hardware, Telecom Equipment, IT Services, Real Estate, Corporate Services, Mergers and Acquisitions and Financing Services to Fortune 500, Global 2000 and government customers. UNICOM Global founded the TIP program in 2014 to focus initially on students at California-based universities in a dedicated effort to give back to the community and help build the next generation of business and technology professionals, and to promote IT startups and entrepreneurship.
“Corry Hong has built UNICOM into one of the premier technology companies in the world, right here in California, and we were honored to have him speak to our aspiring students,” said Kenneth R. Lord, Ph.D.,
Dean of the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics. “Since 2009, CSUN has been bringing business leaders together with students to share their insights into their fields of endeavor, their advice in choosing a career and getting a job, and the stories of their own journeys, and Mr. Hong’s unique and powerful story truly resonated with our future business leaders.”
